vineyard operated by founder/winemaker Jerold O'Brien.
Established in 1979, Silver Mountain Vineyards is located at an
elevation of 2,100 feet and enjoys a spectacular view of the Monterey
Bay and surrounding redwood forest.
Estate Organic VineyardWarm summer days and cool nights balance to produce a longer hang-time for our fruit, maximizing their flavor. The estate organic vineyard grows Mount Eden clone Chardonnay, and we purchase Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes from dry farmed, hillside vineyards. Jerold is a firm believer that the mountain philosophy of independence and challenge is pivotal to producing strong character, both in people and in grapes. The name Silver Mountain calls to mind the special qualities that characterize this appellation and contribute to the distinctive mountain flavor of these fine wines. Additionally, Jerold was active in commodity futures trading in the 1970s and used profits from silver trades to help him buy the land.
